Description

A thin structure is a three-dimensional object with one or two vanishing dimensions, such as a thin film, a plate, a shell, a beam, a capillary vessel, a network, etc. The response of a beam to stresses, the behavior of a tire on a wet road, the heat diffusion by a radiator, the flow of a fluid in connected pipes, as well as magnetism phenomena in thin films are just examples of questions concerning thin structures.

The aim of the "Fifth workshop on thin structures" (Naples, September 13-15, 2018) is to bring together experts from different horizons, in order to present and discuss the most recent results concerning mathematical models of thin structures, as well as numerical analysis methods for the validation of solutions and their implementation.

The contributions will consist of invited lectures and posters.

The firstsecondthird, and fourth editions of this series took place in Naples in 2005, 2010, 2013, and 2016, respectively.
