The 2022 Pacific Rim Mathematical Association Congress will be take place in Vancouver, Canada, between December 4-9, 2022. The fourth meeting will be hosted by the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS).
Every four years, mathematical scientists from around the Pacific Rim converge to discuss the latest developments in Mathematics. The Pacific Rim Mathematical Association (PRIMA) was established to bring a well coordinated and concerted effort among our institutions and countries to stimulate a vibrant and interconnected mathematical community whose activities have an unprecedented impact on our economic, social, and cultural development.
The Simons Laufer Mathematical Sciences Institute (SLMath), previously known as MSRI, in partnership with the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS), is now accepting nominations for participation support for the Pacific Rim Mathematical Association (PRIMA) Congress, which is being hosted by PIMS in Vancouver, Canada, December 4-9, 2022.
SLMath/MSRI is inviting nominations for travel support from its Academic Sponsor Institutions. Each individual selected will be eligible to receive $500USD,
of support whitn those presenting at the conference being eligible for aditional $250USD.
As a limited number of spots are available, we strongly encourage Department Chairs to nominate faculty and students by September 15, 2022, and we strongly encourage nominees to register for the Congress as soon as possible (see details below).
SLMath/MSRI may accept up to 3 nominations from each institution:
- one pre-tenured faculty (without research grants),
- one graduate student,
- and one additional member of the department (without research grants). This is only applicable if one of the above is a woman or a member of another underrepresented group.
Please submit your nominations at this LINK no later than September 15, 2022.
Should you have questions about the nomination process, please contact Chris Marshall, Senior Administrator of Scientific Activities, at chris@slmath.org.
PRIMA was established to connect mathematical scientists across the Pacific Rim, and to build a vibrant and interconnected mathematical community whose activities impact economic, social, and cultural development. Past PRIMA congresses were held in Australia (2009), China (2013) and Mexico (2017), with more than 300 participants at each session. The 2022 Congress will feature:
- Public and plenary lectures
- Focused Special sessions on research topics in the mathematical sciences
- PRIMA Early Career Research Showcase
- PRIMA Career Fair
- Networking opportunities
